Beaches Resorts Receives The Corporate Leadership Award By Sesame Workshop

Beaches Resorts was honored at Sesame Workshop’s 16th annual benefit gala at Cipriani 42nd Street on Wednesday, May 30th. Adam Stewart, Deputy Chairman of Sandals Resorts International, accepted the Corporate Leadership Award in honor of Beaches Resorts’ commitment to making every child feel welcome and safe, whether through autism-friendly kids’ activities or support for families affected by recent hurricanes along with the efforts of the Sandals Foundation, the organization’s philanthropic arm. Katie Couric hosted the event with Sesame Street Muppets Elmo, Cookie Monster, Abby Cadabby, Big Bird, and friends at Cipriani 42nd Street. The evening also included a special performance by New Orleans musician and philanthropist Trombone Shorty.

“I am extremely thankful to accept this award on behalf of Beaches Resort’s ongoing dedication to make a positive impact on our future generation,” says Adam Stewart, Deputy Chairman of Sandals Resorts International. “As a proud sponsor of Sesame Street, Beaches Resorts is honored to provide an award-winning vacation experience for all children, including families with special needs, by creating engaging and inspiring activities with a trained and certified staff.”

Following the recent landmark television debut of Julia, a new Sesame Street Muppet with autism, Beaches announced the walkaround character’s arrival to its resorts in Jamaica and Turks & Caicos in fall 2017. Julia’s debut also continues Beaches Resorts’ partnership with Sesame Workshop, the non-profit educational organization behind Sesame Street, and expands the resort company’s exclusive Beaches Resorts Caribbean Adventure with Sesame Street® program, now in its 14th year of partnership.

This year’s annual gala theme was Help, Healing, and Hope, coinciding with Sesame Workshop’s goal to continue as an innovative force for change, with a mission to help kids everywhere grow smarter, stronger, and kinder.
